The 2009 Summer Reading Program

June 24th - August 5th



Register!
Sign up at the Roslyn Public Library anytime between June 24th and August 1st.
The program will end on August 5th.


Award!

Enjoy your reading record log as you track the time you spend reading with
colorful stickers or on a handy bookmark. You will earn a small reward for
every hour of reading. If you make it to 20 hours by August 5th, you will
receive a special reward and, if you are 12 - 17 years old, you'll get a
raffle ticket for a chance to win the Grand Prize - an iPod Touch!

Parties!
The fun starts with an ice cream party to kick off the program on June 24th
and ends with a pizza party on August 5th. Both feature special
performances and lots of food and fun.



How it Works ...





For every 1 hour of reading on your own or of being read to...

If you are under 10 you will earn a small toy prize;

If you are 10 or over you will earn a "lotto" ticket for a weekly chance to win a Fred Meyer Shopping Spree;






Everyone who reads at least 20 hours by August 4th earns a special prize.

If you are 12 - 17 years old and you read for at least 20 hours, you will be entered into the grand prize drawing for the chance to win a brand new ...

iPod Touch



The funnest iPod ever.

If you are under 12 and you read for at least 20 hours, you will be entered into the grand prize drawing for the chance to win a brand new...

Event Schedule

Ice Cream Kickoff Party
Wednesday, June 24th at 1:00 pm

Ice cream social, guitar picking and singing by Dr. Dave Lundy,
program sign-up.
All ages.


These Boots Were Made for Painting
Wednesday, July 1st at 1:00 pm

Bring your scrubbed-clean rubber boots or other shoes to
paint fun designs on with Marie Nickols.
All ages.

The Night Sky
Wednesday, July 8th at 1:00 pm at the Roslyn Park

You will create a multimedia painting of the night sky with High
Country Artist Virginia Stodgell. Wear old clothes and bring
lightweight sparkly objects to glue onto your painting.
School age children.

Origami - The Art of Paper Folding
Monday, July 13th at 1:00 pm

Cindy Gregory will show you how to create patterns, animals,
and more through the ancient art of origami.
All ages.

Building with Legos
Monday, July 20th at 1:00 pm

Tuesday and Torre are back, and this time they've got
thousands of legos for you to build bridges, towers, robots --
anything your engineering mind can imagine. Prizes!
All ages.

Creative Cooking with Chef Schuchman
Wednesday, July 29th, 2:00 pm

Create a colorful salad with fresh, local ingredients.
Then learn how to make your own dressing.
Shake it, toss it, and eat it!
All ages.

Finale Party at the Cle Elum Park
Wednesday, August 5th at 11:00 am at the Cle Elum Park

Celebrate a summer of reading and creativity with a
pizza party and special performance by
children's performer Louie Foxx.

All ages.
